Data Protection

How OYFL approaches the responsible handling and governance of personal information.

Last updated: August 2026

Oxfordshire Youth Football League is committed to handling personal information responsibly and in accordance with applicable UK data-protection law.

Data protection is not only about publishing a Privacy Notice. It also requires appropriate internal processes, access controls, retention practices and standards for people handling League information.

Our Approach

OYFL maintains internal policies and working procedures covering the collection, use, sharing, security, retention and disposal of personal information.

Committee members, volunteers and others handling personal information on behalf of the League are expected to use that information only for legitimate League purposes and to take reasonable steps to keep it secure.

Your Privacy

Our Privacy Notice explains what personal information OYFL may use, where it comes from, why we use it, the systems involved, who information may be shared with, how long information is retained and the rights individuals have.

Internal Governance

OYFL’s internal data-protection arrangements support consistent and responsible handling of League information, including:

  • appropriate access to League systems and records
  • collecting only information needed for the relevant purpose
  • secure handling and sharing of personal information
  • appropriate retention and secure disposal
  • responding to data-protection requests
  • identifying and responding to personal-data breaches
  • reviewing new systems and processes from a data-protection perspective

Children and Young People

Because OYFL administers youth football, particular care is required when handling information relating to children and young people.

Information should be limited to what is necessary for football administration, safeguarding, welfare and governance and should only be available to people who need it for their role.
